Academician Karen Scrivener was hired as an academician at the Academician Expert Workstation of the General Academy

On January 8, China Building Materials Academy appointed Professor Karen Scrivener, Professor of EPFL, and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, as an academician of the Academician Expert Workstation and gave a special lecture. Zhi Xiao, Assistant to the General Manager of China National Building Materials Group, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of China Building Materials Academy, issued a letter of appointment to Academician Karen Scrivener and conducted extensive and in-depth exchanges on deepening pragmatic cooperation and jointly promoting low-carbon innovation. Wen Zhaijun, Deputy General Manager of China Building Materials Academy, presided over the meeting.

 Zhi Xiao warmly welcomed the visit of Academician Karen Scrivener to China Building Materials Academy and reviewed the cooperation between the two sides over the past decade. He said that China Building Materials Academy and Karen Scrivener have close contacts and the two sides have a solid cooperation foundation in the fields of low-carbon cementitious materials and microstructure characterization. Looking to the future, he hopes that the two sides will expand the scope of cooperation in joint scientific research, standard setting and talent training. He expressed his gratitude to Professor Karen Scrivener for her important contribution to the international development of the Academy and hoped to take this event as an opportunity to promote the scientific and technological innovation cooperation between the two sides to a new level.

Professor Karen Scrivener gave a wonderful report entitled "The Importance of CSH to Cement Decarbonization". Karen systematically explained the structure and formation evolution mechanism of the hydration product CSH, and introduced the role of

CSH cementitious materials in the cement decarbonization process from the perspective of alternative raw materials

such as calcined kaolin and fly ash. China Building Materials Academy adheres to the international development concept

of openness and

cooperation, actively promotes green and low-carbon development, and joins hands with international high-end talents and institutions to make more contributions to the green development of global inorganic non-metallic materials. Nearly 30 researchers, graduate students, and representatives from the Institute's Science and Technology

Department in related fields participated in this event.
